Stephanie Fry

At Groundwork Colorado, Stephanie is responsible for connecting low-income communities with energy efficiency, renewable energy and green jobs resources. With the Take Charge! project, Stephanie engages student and adult volunteers in community outreach initiatives. She has managed several successful similar door-to-door campaigns in Colorado and Ohio, conducting over 200 community outreach canvasses. Her previous experiences include her work as the Director of Outreach and Development with iCAST, focusing on identifying sustainable opportunities for underserved Colorado communities, and prior to that, Ms. Fry was the Start-up Operations Manager with D-Rev: Design for the other 90%, increasing the accessibility of technologies to communities in developing countries. Stephanie has been active in her local community, speaking out on issues of homelessness, sexual violence, and the environment. Stephanie received a Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing from the University of Denver.
Front Range Energy Ambassador

Megan is working on Take Charge! as a Student Energy Ambassador, engaging other students in their community through education and oppurtunites to be involved in something greater than oneself. She is passionate about service, the environment and the places in which we live, work and play and wants to share that with others! Megan recieved her degree from the University of Colorado Boulder in Environemtal Design and then later served a year with AmeriCorps, working to improve oppurtunities of affordable, safe, and efficient housing for low income families in Denver.
Through this experience of service and becoming more involved in her community, Megan became passionate about the work being accomplished by nonprofits and wanted to continue to use and develop her skill set while serving the needs of the community. She is currently working towards her Master's Degree at the University of Colorado at Denver in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management. She hopes to continue working on environmental issues after she completes her degree.
Megan is excited to join Groundwork Denver and all the great work done accross the state to address environmental concerns!
Danny Trujillo
Community Organization Manager

Danny is responsible for organizing communities throughout the State of Colorado. He is a graduate of Ft Lewis College in Durango. Danny provides leadership on the Take Charge project by researching the various communities and identifying which neighborhoods are in the most need of our services. He also identifies local resources in the communities that will best meet the needs of our audiences.
Julie Connor
Director of Programs

Julie was born and raised in the sun and sprawl of southern California. She obtained a degree in Journalism from CU and was a freelance reporter for the Boulder County Business Report. She later headed to Paraguay as a health promoter with the Peace Corps. She then taught American English to business executives briefly in Chile while she became reacquainted with electricity, running water and paved roads. Since returning to Colorado in ‘96, she has worked on graphics and communications for numerous entities in Denver, in particular the City and County of Denver, and ran for Denver City Council in 2007. Over the years, she has championed green spaces, energy conservation and transportation alternatives, both as policies and ballot measures, in various positions with various organizations including 4-H, Sierra Club, Colorado Environmental Coalition, Colorado Renewable Energy Society, Denver’s Parks and Rec Advisory Board and Transit Alliance.
Wendy Hawthorne

Wendy Hawthorne became the Executive Director of Groundwork Colorado in November 2006. She started her career as a mechanical engineer, focusing on energy efficient and sustainable building design and consulting. After ten years in that field, Wendy realized that she could have a greater positive impact on the community and the environment by applying her skills and passion in the non-profit sector. In 2000, she joined the staff at Northeast Denver Housing Center (NDHC) with the goal of making low-income housing more energy efficient, sustainable, and healthy. At NDHC, she and staff started the Healthy Homes Initiative through which hundreds of Denver homes in low-income communities received health and safety improvements and thousands of families were educated about the dangers of lead poisoning. As the Executive Director of Groundwork Denver, Wendy has proven the effectiveness of the organization in engaging a diversity of Denver residents in environmental projects. Wendy has a Bachelors degree from Princeton University and a Masters degree from the University of Colorado.
